Established in 2011 as an exempt manager under the supervision of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, First Degree was awarded the prestigious Capital Markets Services licence in 2016. This reflects our commitment to excellence in all aspects of Investment Management - investment strategy, execution, legal structuring of the fund vehicle and compliance. We welcome skilled managers with a strong investment thesis to join us. Our structures and processes are easily embedded within a prospective manageru0027s portfolio management systems, leaving the manager free to focus on their core skill: managing money and building a track record. Our manager stable is distinct and interesting, from Startup Tech VC to Reverse-Merger to Crypto Currency and Green bonds, we seek to add managers who have a niche.
Portfolio management services
Our goal is to provide an institutional standard portfolio management service for all clients at a fee level that leaves the bulk of return with the client. We manage long only bespoke portfolios for High Net Worth investors together with specific long/short alpha strategies for individuals and institutions. We believe that long-run returns are maximised with a strategic allocation to the broad asset classes such as global equity, fixed income property and credit. Implementation of the strategy is best delivered using low cost instruments. Alpha strategies are based on proprietary research focusing on long horizon investment rules.
Our Long Horizon strategy is truly unique
Our long horizon strategy harvests a truly unique form of alpha. We draw on the empirical evidence in the academic literature that proves that predicting future market returns with financial variables is strongest at longer horizons. Put simply, this means that we are much better at predicting market returns over one year than over one month, one week or one day. Despite the compelling academic evidence, long horizon investing has not found a place amongst practitioners and we believe that we are the only manager that systematically invests in this way.
